The Whitsundays is a region of Australian coastline, midway up the Queensland coast, bordered by the Great Barrier Reef and 74 tropical islands in the warm, calm waters of the Coral Sea. Located between Townsville and Mackay the region is 900 kilometres (560 mi) north of the state capital of Brisbane. It is about a 10 hour drive along the Bruce Highway from Brisbane. Bowen is situated on the shores of Edgecumbe Bay, just 40 minutes drive in one of our Car Rentals north from Airlie Beach. Averaging at least eight hours of sunshine all year round it can also safely claim to have Australia's best climate.

Proserpine

Proserpine serves as the service centre for the Whitsundays area. If you drive through the town in your Car Rental you will notice how lush and fertile it appears. It has long been recognised as one of the most lush and fertile regions in this area. For around 200 years, sugar cane and cattle grazing have been the main enterprises in the region. It is said that the glow of sugar cane fires make for a vibrant sky show from about early July.
